Arriving in Fiji, we quickly left the boring little city of Nadi for the nearby chain of tropical islands, which pretty much all looked like this one. Not all have resorts, and not all resorts are wild party places like this one.
We chose a quiet little island called Kuata, where life was simple and the ocean was blue.
We shared a dorm with about 30 other guests, as well as some insects, lizards and birds.
I spent many hours in this hammock. I read nine books in as many days and I got a nice suntan, which is almost a first for me.
Sometimes we felt bored with the beach and the ocean, so we set forth on adventures like snorkling, or, like here, climbing the local mountain to enjoy the view of similar island with similar mountains.
There was a diesel generator on Kuata, so they managed to keep the beer cold enough to be drinkable. This resulted in some partying, like here with three nice japanese girls.
One sunset, three swedes.
The initial charm of lazy life in the sun began disappearing after about a week, but my friends Fredrik and Bobby could've stayed there to this day.
There was always Bobby's antics to break the monotony, which wasn't always a good thing.
The locals did little else than work on the resort and play volleyball with the guests, which made them tough opponents. We managed to win occasionally though.
Sunset, just before dinner, was one of the best times of the day.
Most sunsets were quite spectacular.
The sunrises weren't bad either.
